My husband and I didn't give each other anything this year! We had spent $800 total for both of us to fly to Seattle over Christmas to visit my parents, so we decided that the trip would be our giant, overpriced present.

The package from my husband's parents didn't make it (from Germany)--it got lost in the mail. My parents, who have really good gift ideas, gave my husband and me dinner and tickets to PNB's Nutcracker (I was in this very production back in my heyday as a dancer) and some stuff from L'Occitane (shaving accoutrements for my husband) and Coach (for me). We had a lovely time in (downright balmy) Seattle!

    Happy New Year everyone!

Alison, is your husband german too? So is mine....I'll have to send you a copy of the sign I have hanging in the kitchen "Being married to a German builds character" .

I would say that only 1/2 of the packages that we get from germany actually arrive at our house...I used to blame it on my mil, but we also order from amazon.de on practically a....weekly basis and we've had episodes of things not arriving from them as well. They all end up "lost" at the Minneapolis airport, where they end up only finding the packaging slip.

We think they're getting stolen at the post office or airport or something. Who knew there was such a market for german 'stuff'.

        Favorite gifts?

Video Now for all of the kids.....They've been watching them in the car (even Aidan has his little junior video now with blue's clues and elmo) and are allowed to watch one at night in bed (if they go to bed early).

Also a hit....wooden trainset for Aidan....all of the boys love it and help him build, build, build. Last night they built tracks from the boy's bedroom all the way down the hall to our bedroom.

The little's book collection for Amanda...she's already read the whole collection.

Of all things ds (2.5 yrs) loved the Mr. Potato Head. He can't actually put anything together, but he loves playing with the pieces and laughs hysterically when I rearrange the face!! He is also learning animal noises and enjoys playing with the farm animal set Santa brought.
