Wierd Noises

My daughter, Avery will be five months in a couple of weeks. She has been making noises since she was 8 weeks old. She coos and squeals a lot. The funny thing that she just started doing is making noises as she inhales instead of exhaling when most sounds are made. She makes this high pitched squeals followed by a large sigh. It sounds like she is gasping for air when she talks. Has anyone ever heard this kind of noise before? It seems strange.

My son is just now 5 months old and he has been making these "inhaling" noises for a few weeks now. The latest is that he makes them somehow while he is latched on nursing -- very strange! He is my third boy and I remember all of my kids making similar noises. So either its normal, or my sons and your daughter share an anomaly!

Enjoy -- my older sons make much less pleasant noises now.

That is a relief! My husband keeps telling our daughter that she is supposed to speak when she exhales. She just laughs by inhaling at him. It is pretty funny. Maybe it is a stage.

My second daughter did this too, she now is 16 and NEVER stops talking.
