My boys had their first soccer games today. I am so worn out. Russ has completely lost his voice and we both cheered so much it hurt! I know some people don't think this would be a fun way to spend their Saturdays but I LOVE watching my boys play. I only have the two oldest playing this season. It was too much with three of them last season so we gave Tyler a chance to hang out at the playground instead. Jacob and Zachary are quite athletic, which probably makes it more exciting for me. Zachary just moved up to an older team for 8-9 year olds even though he is only seven. He scored a goal and his best friend also scored so they were flying high. Jacob's team struggled and lost their game but that didn't matter. I kept telling Jacob that all that mattered was that he tried his best and had fun. He is a TERRIBLE loser but he was improved after the game today. Maybe he is learning, I can always hope! He used to get so down if his team lost but now he accepted defeat with more grace. He played awesome of course. No bias from this mom!!!

For the next 10 weeks this is what my weekends will all be about and I love it. Now ... I have to go to bed. I am completely worn out!

    Robin,

It is awesome that you give your kids the gift of time and encouragement. Your kids will remember your cheering in the stands for the rest of their days. My mom and dad came to as many track meets as she could to watch me run a minute race and my dh's parents took their dinner breaks to watch him play hockey (they both occasionally worked second shift while the grandparents watched the kids after school). We have both commented on how our parents devotion formed us into the individuals that we are today.

    Enjoy!

      Robin!
Your post is so sweet! I have always wondered how soccer moms do it! It is very obvious that you love being there and that is wonderful!!! Your boys will always remember that!
