  • Pediatric Dentists...

Finny had to have 4 teeth extracted because her adult teeth grew in behind her baby teeth. I was sooooooo nervous!!! Our dentist did such a great job though...they used gas to help her to "float to the clouds" and then numbed her up with cream before injecting...she never felt a thing...they listened to her teeth snore and then pretended her teeth were dreaming that they were bunnies. When Finny said "hop", he pulled a tooth...and she giggled and laughed the whole time!

    phew...what a relief!

It is so nice when children have good dentist experiences so that they are not scared to go again. My Zachary loves going to the dentist because he loves the new toothbrush and picking a toy at the end of the visit. He is the one who has had to have fillings too but the denist has made it very comfortable for him.

On the other hand, I have Tyler. I had to take him for a preschool dental check and I was sent to a dental office that obviously had minimal child experience! Tyler was brave at first and then the hygenist came in and plopped down all the tools on the tray in front him him. Well, of course, he saw all these sharp pointed instruments and he started screaming! He was 4! The denist came in and to her credit, was furious with the hygenist but she couldn't even get Tyler to open his mouth. She finally had to have all the instruments removed from the room and promise to only look. No films or anything. It was a disaster and then he didn't even get a new toothbrush or a sticker or anything from that office. I really struggle trying to get him to go now. Poor kid!

The dentist experience leaves lasting memories so I am glad that Finny's experience was a good one! I love the imagination!

You're right, Robin...and I'm sooooo pleased with how well it all went. The kids aren't afraid and they actually look forward to going back and getting to pick through the little gifts that he has for them when they are done...

What an AWFUL experience you guys had...poor Tyler!!!!!! You'll have to find a really good pediatric dentist to help him get over it...how could someone treat a child like that?
