  • Baby Christina

Finny got a really neat doll from her "oma" (grandma) for Christmas this year. It was a european model with a weird, extra-long pacifier. When you removed the pacifier, the baby would coo and cry.....when you placed it back in the baby's mouth, it would be soothed......she loved this doll, named it "Christina" and refused to be parted with her. She even carried it to school in her bookbag a couple of days until I caught on...A hand-knit jacket, hat and handmuff came with it (purchased by my mil at a retirement home fair). When we went to Thomas' presentation last month, Finny took it to the hotel and it was stolen.... She was so devastated that she cried for days...and still talks about her lost Christina "is she scared, lonely, does she miss me, mommy...) Well, of course this brings up my own major childhood dolly issues and we went to try and correct it.

Problem: This was a special doll put out only at the holidays and my mil looked everywhere but was unable to find it.

WooHoo: My hubby and his mom went on another tour of the toy stores this week and when they went back to the store where she had bought it, my mil spoke with the manager about it...and they actually still had one in the backroom that hadn't been returned to the manufacture. He sold it to her at the Christmas special price!!!!

So hubby called Finny the other night and said "guess who is looking all over for you...I just found Christina and she can't wait to see you again!"

sob, sob..boo hoo..... This is sooo wonderful....

OK, after reading your posts, I'd say Thomas is winning major points. Correct?

Definately!! You know, the kids have gotten so used to having him home most of the time now, that it has been very hard on them this week having him gone....they've really missed him...but Thomas won brownie points with us all on this one!

What a great story Kris. Finny must be SOOOOO happy! It sounds like your family life is going SUPER and I am glad your hubby is able to spend more time with the family! All that long hard work is paying off. Thanks for the mood booster!

Finny is so happy to have her baby back. She has been carrying her everywhere! It really gave the father/daughter relationship a boost too.

I have to say, that post-training, Robin, it all gets better. It has taken us time and the improvements have come slowly...but it is DEFINATELY an uphill climb!!!!
