  • Discipline Mantras....

Does anyone here have a certain discipline model that they follow? When Andrew was born, the Sears and attachment parenting was all the rage, so I'm more inclined to read books like their "Discipline Book". But there are soooo many ideas out there right now.....it's tough to know what's right.

I read a parenting book while I was at work yesterday. This famous parenting expert is coming to town on a book tour and they have an entire stand devoted to her - so I flipped through the book. WOW! It certainly did NOT want to make me become a parent! It seems that if you follow a certain book, you could drive yourself crazy with the what to do's/what not to do's - all the time worrying that you are scarring your children for life. My mom never followed a book - she went with the ol' feel it as you go method. Maybe that explains everything!

My mantra? Make all your mistakes with your first child, and when you get to the last kid, they'll be perfect! Actually, sometimes I think that's how my mom did it (and her last one is perfect - I'm the her first btw.)
