  • Where am I going wrong?

Jacob (4.5 yrs old) just peed at the computer table. Pulled down his pants and peed (he wasn't drunk). He said it was an accident. How the accident occured 15 feet from a bathroom w/his pants down I'm not quite sure. He also peed a couple times in his closet as a way to get at me for being sent to his room. I understand the cause of those and it hasn't happened in a month or so. Today I think he was just engrossed in the game he was playing and didn't want to leave.

DH blew up, yelled and stomped and threatened. Then when I went down to investigate the problem, dh tells me what Jacob did - in a totally disgusted voice. I say "Did you clean it up?" (this was a good 15 minutes after dh discovered the problem). DH says "No - it's all wet over there!" I said "So ... what did we do when the puppy had an accident?" And dh gets all mad and stomps off to get the towels, etc.

    Calgon - take me away!!!

My boys have all done this before, don't feel bad. Maybe next time, Jacob should "help" you clean up the mess.....you will still be doing all of the actual clean up, but the thought of cleaning up pee may gross him out enough to make him think before he decides to just whip it out any old place.

This too shall pass, I promise!

Yep, kid helps clean up the mess.

Now if I could just get DS to understand that if you actually undo buttons and zippers and not just hoist everything over the waistband he wouldn't have so many accidents

Yeah, I would make him clean it up, too. I don't think you are doing anything wrong, he's just figured out that he can really piss you off by peeing in inappropriate places. Good luck, I hope for your sanity that this doesn't become a trend!
