I love the name Zoe! Don't give in - I love the A to Z thing - I don't think she would mind not being an A, since she would hold the all important "Z" part of your A-Z. (On that thought - we had a family of girls on our swim team when we were little, and their last daughter... no joke... was named AtoZ, because the parents said, "we searched the whole alphabet, A to Z and couldn't find one, so this is her name" I still feel sorry for the poor thing to this day - sometimes adults can be as wierd as kids in their name choices!!).
My niece (age 4) called her baby sister "Sparkle Rose" for the first four months of the baby's life before finally giving in to the fact that she was not the 'baby namer' in the family.

Good luck on the name game - fun times!!

    Jen B.

I was so disappointed to have a brother named Kenny that I still called him Jessica, finally compromising and calling him JessiKen.

If there weren't a reason or theme to the A to Z thing, it might be harder. I've seriously considered Zoe for a girl ... not that my husband's genes will EVER produce one.

I like Zoe, too. Good name. I don't think it's generally a good practice to let your kids name your children, but it isn't always a disaster. After all, Ashley is a nice name, too. Maybe you could show Gone With The Wind and convince her that Ashley is a boy name? That should scare her off!

My grandmother was named by her older sister. Several of her siblings were also named by older children. They are all very fond of the sibling that named them. No problems there - and good name choices. Of course, there were 15 kids in the family , so mom and dad probably just ran out of ideas along the way.

Tell her that the iMSN mommies and daddies all agreed on Zoe.
LOL! I agree with Jenn. My vote is for Zoe (any spelling) vs Ashley.

            Tara's right.

Remind Amanda that she can have her OWN children some day and name them whatever she pleases!

Kris, feel free to take whatever names I've got! Heaven knows I've mulled over enough girl names!

Here's my girl list (beginning with my own daughters' names and continuing through the ones I've mulled over):

            Madeline (strong tower)
            Rose (obvious)
            Zoe (life)
            Aileen (light)
Sophia (wisdom - God's wife in Hebrew mythology)
            Grace (another obvious one)
            Eleanor (light)
            Claire (clear or pure)

Isabel (call her Bella or Bell for short)
Pearl (I can't explain why I like that one - just do)
            Virginia
            Sara
            Mercedes
            Elizabeth (shortened to Beth)
            Evelyn (Eva for short)
            Adrienne (my sister's name)

I know I've had a longer list in the past but this is all I can think of this late at night off the top of my head.

BTW: Ashley is a very nice name. If it is what YOU want to name the baby keep in mind it is lovely.
