If you could pull strings to get your kid unfairly(?) into a fabulous school, would you?

No brainer.
Absolutely.
Even if a parent wouldn't admit to it, I think you'd be hard pressed to find a parent who would take the moral highroad over a great opportunity for their kid.
But that is just me.

Obviously we've got an immoral bunch here.
I'd do it too - but at least I'd feel guilty!!!Angie

Just a quick update...
So, against what you guys said, I declined the offer to 'get him in,' but three days later I got a call from the school and our friendly aquaintance pulled strings for me anyways. I didn't see going to the preschool as a big deal because we actually plan on homeschooling. Well, my son fell in love with the school and can't wait to start. I am very impressed as well. I do feel a bit guilty though when I hear other moms around town talk about having their kids on the waitlist. They had over 10 people waitlisted for each opening, which was about 180 people I think. My SIL put it to me in terms that helps...she said it is in the school's interest to have families/kids in that are fun and beneficial to the program. Because we didn't go through the regular route I am not even sure if they do an interview. Oh well. I know I should be glad that life was unfair in my favor for a change
Oh Jesher. Sorry, spent the money.

As someone who used to work in admissions in a VERY prestigous preschool you shouldn't feel guilty in the slightest. Each classrooms needs are different and even though a child has been on the waitlist since birth they may never get in. I would say 1/4 of the admissions we made were because the "director said so" and were just left at that.Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

Cheri--The cost of the preschool you mention was the most obvious deterrent for us....but the waitlist was also unbelievable!!! I am really glad Keelin is where she is....were you familiar with Wonder Years Preschool? Brand new facility in Palo Alto, but they have another school somewhere else in the Bay Area.
**Sorry to hijack here! I just drank a few glasses of wine and I'm going a little "post" crazy!!
