  • nursing problem update

    Hi everyone,

Just thought I would let you know that I am halfway through a second round of antibiotics for mastitis. I am beginning the weaning process (unless I give up) but I don't know how successful it will be. He bit me again last night and I immediately burst into tears, because of frustration as well as because of pain. I am so annoyed that I have had so much trouble nursing this time. It was so easy and effortless with the other two at this point.

Just had to rant about it a little bit.....

    Sally,

I hope that you are feeling better about the whole process and that the antibiotics are taking effect! Weaning is soooo bittersweet because it is a definitive statement that your baby needs you less and yet this independence is exactly what we aspire to teach our kids. They get so big too fast. <sigh> Good luck with all of this.

      Sally,

Are you weaning because of the infections? I've never had mastitis...just heard that it can be really painful! I hope that you start feeling much better with this second round of antibiotics....Do you think that the weaning could be aggravating the mastititis? I know that when I weaned, my breasts became more engorged and painful initially....as my body adjusted to the reduced demand....I know absolutely nothing about the topic though....it was just a thought...

I hope you're feeling much better this weekend!!!

I've had mastitis - talk about pain, agony and torture!!! But, I have to wonder about what Kristen said: weaning right now might be a bad thing because it could lead to engorgement and possibly more clogged ducts creating the possibility for new infection, etc. I know it HURTS, though - been there done that!
