  • He's potty training himself....

I'm NOT kidding. I wasn't even going to really start with potty training until the dust settles here and the baby is a few months old....

A few days ago, Aidan came to me and said "Poopy, mommy, Poopy!" He has been doing that when he has a full load in his diaper, so I assumed he needed to be changed. He was clean and dry and so I told him there was no...poopy to be seen....He kept screaming "Poopy" and so I asked him if he wanted to go to the potty. He did...He sat on the potty and...made a ... train poopy and a truck poopy (Long story on that one!)

In any case, he has done this every day except yesterday (today makes day 5).

The joy of having older siblings to model behavior!

Lucky you! I say this begrudgingly b/c:

      A) you deserve a break and B) we're FINALLY pretty much done with Quinn

After that have him hit Wisconsin.

At least Henry lets me know when he's gone.

I"m trying to decide whether or not I should 'go with this' in full force. He came to me today with his favorite potty book and off we went again. He 'performs' every single time that he asks me to go.

Do I start the whole 'every 2 hour'/big boy pants thing or do I wait until baby is here????

I hate to miss out on this window of opportunity if the timing is right now.

            I say try it.

If it doesn't work, try later.

Chances are he will have some regression when the baby comes, but if he is showing this much interest, it won't be long til its permanent.

Honestly, I'd go for it, too! You have nothing to lose, and maybe it will never occur to him to turn this into a huge power struggle, like it does with many kids. That is hysterical that he identifies them as trains and trucks !

I've never had a child do this...though he does have 3 older siblings to serve as his 'example'.

I went ahead and bought him some 'Finding Nemo' big boy pants....which he doesn't want to wear but laughed hysterically over when we put on Fluffy (cat).

I think I may try and slide into a potty routine and see what happens. I haven't changed a poopy diaper in days! Wow!

How on earth did you get underpants on a cat?

I was pretty amazed at the potty story until I got to the cat in underpants.

FWIW, go for it with the potty. Woohoo!
