  • Trying not to laugh, too!

Has anybody's kid ever ASKED to go into time out? This doesn't seem normal. My daughter (not yet 2 1/2) asked to go into time out over the weekend after I used time out one time because she wouldn't quit jumping on the bed. I honestly have never needed to use it with her, but I thought it was in order for this behavior since it was getting dangerous. I guess it isn't punishment to her! It honestly was quite funny when she asked to go to time out--she repeated a behavior she knew would take her there, and when I followed through with her request to go, she did so without resisting me!!

Oh, and just to add--she then spent the rest of the evening putting her dollies as well as Ernie and Bert into time out!!! I mean, talking to them quietly, telling them that what they said was "not ok", and telling me that they were "kicking and shouting, Mom!"

Only her time out was in the CLOSET! (**DON'T CALL CPS--my daughter's TIME OUT IS NOT THE CLOSET!!!!! )

I just had to share, she is such a kick!

That's funny Marla. Maybe she's just practicing with the idea of "time out" since it's new to her?

I know my daughter is much happier in a quiet controlled setting. Sometimes, when she is wound up I can stop a tantrum by ferrying her up to our attic office and handing her a stack of books to read or look through. She gets overwhelmed by lots of activity. Now that she's in ballet, I've found out that she actually *likes* classical music. She's stealing my Bach cantatas CDs. I guess not every kid likes the cartoon frenzy. Maybe your daughter really does enjoy her time out!

Yeah, it is interesting. Maybe I'll start calling it "break time" or something like that....She is such a silly little kid, I have a hard time being serious with her much of the time!!!!

That is too cute. I wonder if her daycare teachers use time out?

I love watching my kids take care of dolls and stuffed animals. Sometimes it is interesting how the things the hear come out.

            Very cute!
Ds went through a phase where he'd happily march to his room for time out, but I've never heard of asking for one. I can picture it though. I love this age.

Believe it or not, they generally don't...although one teacher told me that there's one child who "kicks and shouts" Great...oh well, as long as my child doesn't repeat the bad behavior, kick and shout away!!!!
