  • nature vs. nurture?

Please! It's nature ... no question.

I bought the boys a wooden puzzle of the United States. Jacob has used both Florida and Oklahoma as a gun already this morning. We are a 'no gun' toy (or real) home ... but as SOON as he's at a friend's house where they do have gun toys, he finds it.

    Nurture my bum!

Andrew used to use hot dogs as swords and bite his sandwiches into the shape of a gun....

I had this whole "no toy guns in my house" thing going on and DH was flabbergastd about it. "Why...policeman don't carry guns? Cowboys didn't have guns? Soldiers don't have guns?" "I grew up with toy guns and I'm not a mass murderer"

Anyway...I loosened my whole gun grip and gave up...

My daughter has always gravitated towards playing with dolls despite my attempts to get her 'into' playing with the train set as a child, etc..I was soooo going to raise them in a gender neutral way!

    I give up!

I was (still am, not that it matters) a no toy gun mom, too, and the same thing happened here. They built guns with their legos, etc. etc.

Some things are just built in!

        I concur!
My girls never had any interest in weapons of any kind and Mitchell has already shown an interest. The other day a neighbor's toy gun driften into our house and I found Mitchell walking around the ho use making pretend shooting noises with it. We'll let him have them, but will have some rules about pointing them at people, most likely.

          Tara-

Maybe my husband and your husband need to switch families since he was adopted by the Right Wing Republicans and spends many fruitless hours attempting to get them to even listen to his (always) differing opinions.

Of course my family just laughs that I flew 3000 miles to adopt a child who is exactly like me in temperament AND wierd psycho habits that I swear he has never seen. (like eating sandwiches in layers)
