I went to kindergarten orientation tonight and learned something about the way the cafeteria is run here that really surprised me. They are given a lunch ticket every day, can order whatever they want and put it on the card. This cafeteria has everything from icecream to cookies to jell-o. In Arizona the kids had lunch tickets but if no money was paid in advance, the kids couldn't use it. Here it is just like a credit card with me getting the bill later. Some kids have been getting icecream every day this week. I learned that Tyler, while he didn't get icecream, has been getting chocolate milk every day and got a school lunch one day because his teacher misunderstood that he already had a lunch. Of course, none of this was his fault but doesn't this seem strange to anyone else?
I had to write a note to the teacher telling her not to let Tyler use his card unless I send a note. My older boys didn't know that they could use the card. They know I haven't put any money on the cards. Anyway... I'm just trying to get used to Texas school life!!! Some kids are eating only icecream for lunch!!!
