  • We HAD a new pet

Today I put on my funeral director hat.

Our goldfish, "Floatie", is dead. Do you think it was the name?

    Floatie? Talk about self-fulfilling prophecy!

      Floatie.

That reminds me of the time DH, DD and I were at the zoo and we were looking at some animals the sign said were 'beef cattle'. There is just so far you can go in life if you are a beef cattle ... or a goldfish named Floatie.

Floater was the given name, Floatie for short.

Good thing goldfish are 25 cents. I wonder what the next one will be named.

My daughter wants a goldfish, but we've made her wait till spring. She can *win* one herself at the town fair in a few weeks. That's how cheap we are! We will also be keeping the goldfish in our newly acquired fountian outside in the garden.....if the raccoons don't find them.

Poor Floater. Love to see the obit, if you have a chance to post it.

I think our frog Sparky may be joining him soon. Despite having the frog for 2.5 years now, I have not grown attached. Maybe it's the poison it excretes.

Our fish was free -- she won it at the school carnival.

We fishsit for a blue betta. They do seem much heartier.

The funeral speech from DD -- Floatie, you were fun to look at.

Yep, and that is about it!

I always remember being really upset when my fish died. My aquarium never had a cover, so everybody just "flipped out"...I think my parents were too cheap to buy a cover I seem to remember a slow on fish-deaths after the cover addition!!!!

Hope you guys have fun picking a new...floater...

My DH fondly remembers going to get hot dogs and buy new goldfish with his father EVERY WEDNESDAY night when he was a child. Seems it was a tradition. When I asked why they were continually buying goldfish, he said they died all the time. I guess we should all be so relaxed. It didn't bother him at all, apparently. He just though goldfish lived a week or two and that was it.

I named my first fish Mort and he died within a week I guess names can really affect the life of a goldfish. RIP Floatie and Mort.
