  • Ear Infections ????

Has anyone had experience with their kids having many ear infections beyond toddler age? Basically, my 4.5 year old is getting an ear infection every time she gets any congestion. She had several as an infant, but just missed the criteria for a referral, probably three in 2005, but had 4 in the last five months.

Our ped isn't in the office today. I was just in there on Thursday for an ear infection with DD#2. The problem is that some of the Avery's ear infections aren't documented because a couple weren't treated or DH has called in meds when we have been out-of-town.

DH is concerned about the number of infections, but I don't know if they do anything about it at this age or not.

    Jennifer,

No experience here, thank goodness. Just sending you some cyber support. What a yucky thing!

Ugh...feeling your pain, but on the toddler scale..I have, however, heard of some older kids getting tubes. The non-documented thing may hurt a little, though...I suppose it just depends on who your physician is and what there philosophy is. Does your child have tonsil inflammation? This, along with adneoids can sometimes be related to ear infection issues (apparently there's harboring of infection there that goes up to the ears....at least this is how it was explained to me when my DD had adenoidectomy/tubes). I know my words are probably not really helpful, but I do hope everybody gets well soon! Take care....
