  • I'm raising a food snob...

which is no surprise since I've converted the "blue cheese is gross, olives taste like cans, beets are nasty" husband of mine into a complete and total wine and food snob, it would follow that the starving Russian of last year...

had organic mushroom and gorgonzola pasta with spicy red pepper sauce and a side of beets. Topped off with organic unfiltered apple juice and a homemade cupcake with chocolate frosting.

Yikes. and I wonder why he won't eat kraft mac n' cheese? why he prefers blueberry preserves from the farmer's market to Welch's grape jelly? Fresh farmer's market yogurt lightly sweetened with honey over high fructose corn syrup blah from the grocery store?

Maybe he'll be the Emeril of his generation.

Yeah, forget sports heros and rock stars, mommy wants a chef.

liver pate is my kids all time favorite meal. Followed by sharp cheddar. (forget the string cheese, he like SHARP cheddar.)

      It's hilarious.

Can I eat at your house? My oldest put ketchup on everything including muffins and poptarts. If I could get them to eat a veggie or noodle or cheese I would be in heaven.

Can you post that recipe for the mushroom and gorgonzola pasta with red pepper sauce? It sounds yummy.

Ditto--I want to eat at your place! My dh is like having a picky child, so I don't take a lot of cooking "risks."

He eats spaghetti noodles with ketchup. He won't eat a pizza unless it's round (ladies: I have to make pizza in a round pan!--I told him the next time he'll have a round pizza is over my dead body or when his mom visits and actually buys into this nonsense). He does not like asparagus, broccoli, or any other "green vegetables." I think I mentioned this in the recipes forum. But anyway, he should take lessons from Nikolai!

I really dislike it when rectangular/square pizzas are cut into wedges, and when round pizzas are cut into squares.

              :!

wow. My kids would eat NOTHING of what you listed there. I'm pretty proud that I've gotten the older one to start trying new stuff, and he really enjoys broccoli, yogurt and always asks if things have protein.

honestly, I would eat nothing that you listed there, either. I'm not a gorgonzola or beet kind of girl.

                  Nikolai is hillarious.

                    Wow, I'm 80% impressed and 20% jealous.

Sometimes I wonder what my kids will long for when they think about mom's cooking: Easy Mac? Fish Sticks?

Oh we have eggos, they're just topped with whole milk yogurt and freeze dried strawberries (he won't eat the fresh ones, for whatever reason). He doesn't like syrup. I'm telling you those babushkas in Russia made my llife EASY!

The pasta came from the O Ogranics line at Safeway. Fantastic. The sauce was a can of diced tomatoes, a can of tomato juice, a lump of tomato paste and I stir in red pepper flakes and some cayenne to taste.
