Okay - we know from Caitlein's blog that she's officially trying, and we are too. Anyone else on the road to scheduled sex (my friend referred to it in a hysterical way: "Okay honey. It's time. Think of the Queen." )and officially rocking the boat that is their current family size??

Nope, I can say with 100% certainty that Nikolai will be an only child. Those of you who have done this more than once have my utmost respect.
Of course the fact that it would cost us another huge sum of money, be even more complicated than the first time and require additional (not fun) trips overseas has something to do with it, too.

Words of advice from someone whose been on the other side:
If things continue to take some time, have a discussion with your spouse about what your various comfort levels for the various levels of possible intervention.
We knew something was up (of course my 'advanced age' had us on a much different playing field) and were very glad that when the docs starting throwing around things that we could do to remedy the situation, we had already talked things through in the cold light of day.
For us, the answer was figure out what was happening (or not) and go no further. You guys need to figure out what your comfort levels are.
Actually, I really think that this is a conversation that all couples who want children need to have.
Good luck- and FYI, it took my brother and SIL three years and it was finally when they'd accepted that it wasn't going to happen (and therefore relaxed) that Jack appeared.

Thanks, Jenn - luckily since my sister has had some fertility issues we've had the discussion. We also have some close friends that have a child they conceived through IVF. We're willing to do whatever it takes to have a biological child, we do realize that might mean we have to wait until after residency for financial reasons. If biological isn't an option adoption will be, we have friends that have three wonderful adopted children and we would consider it if we had to.
But we're not there yet we're doing non-invasive things at this time, in two months there will be another appointment and another plan if necessary.
Thanks guys - didn't mean to hijack the thread.Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.

The goalie just got pulled for us We were thinking of trying again in the Fall (for a baby to be born in DH's final year of fellowship- and the sweet research year). Expecting one in March that snuck around the goal
Cheri- I hope it will happen for you soon. I have had so many friends go down that road, and they have all ended up with healthy beautiful children. I am wishing the same thing for youRebecca, wife to handsome gyn-onc, and mom 4 awesome kiddos: 8,6,4, and 2.

Goalie has been sent packing and is probably in Tiajuana by now. Having a margarita, perhaps.
I kind of forget that the pregnancy goal and the baby goal are related to each other right now, though. Pregnancy just seems like a chore I have to do and I can't remember why.Married to a hematopathologist seven years out of training.

Holy cow...we may be insane
DS was a delightful suprise, so this is our first "trying" pregnancy and I am not good at patience...God I have to relax . We have two sets of friends who are newly pregnant and I am delighted for them, but I want to be them! We have one other pair of friends who are also trying and I want it for them, but I don't want to be the only ones still trying...selfish I feel like I've been waiting for DH for so long that it has been a year of trying, even when it hasn't.
Here's hoping for baby dust for all who want it

Ahh...I will have to be content appreciating the babes of others for now. I would LOVE to try for another now, but we can't afford it. I think we'll have to wait until the end of this year (next July) at the earliest only because we would need the moonlighting money to eat.
Best of luck to those of you trying. Sending fertility thoughts your way.
