    doctors!

Out of the blue today, DD proudly proclaimed that she was "going to go to school for a very, very, very long time so that she could be a doctor just like daddy and help make babies and kids feel better."

It was all I could do from screaming, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!"

of course, she can be whatever she wants to be when she grows up...

Dh comes from a family of doctors. Dh's great grandfather was a doctor. Dh's grandfather is. Dh's dad and 3 of dh's uncles are. Dh and his brother are doctors. The women really pick up the slack in that family.

No one in my family is a doctor - we're more the artsy fartsy type who like to discuss critical theory. I remember growing up how my mom used to tell me when I brought home bad math grades that "writing is the best skill one can have." We're goofballs.

DH and I are both from medical families as well. Funny thing is, I had no problem with ME being a doctor, but I was very clear with him that I would not marry one. (Mom and Dad didn't last. ) Well.......when I married DH he was going to be a SCULPTOR!!! He practiced as an architect for a few years before going back to school to complete premed. I'm not sure it would have been easier being married to a sculptor. He did look good in those ripped up jeans in the art studios at college though....

        *sigh*

        You really can't plan life.
