  • Things you shouldn't say to a pregnant woman

After a recent OB visit, I heard a lot of things I wish I hadn't from an OB (an older male), not my normal practioner.

    1. Are those vericose veins or are you being beaten? Reply- "As far as I know I am not being beaten". "Well you should call the cops on those veins"

    2. You don't have stretch marks. You are lucky. You have good genes. Oh wait, you have vericose veins.

    3. You look big.

    4. How tall are you? 5'9. Well its a good thing because if you were 4'9 you would have a problem delivering this baby.

    5. No you aren't dilated at all. We don't do inductions unless deemed medically necessary. Oh, you delivered your first two late. You have a ways to go then.

This was all in one visit. Anything you want to add to the list?

I'd tell your practioner. I'm sure s/he doesn't want someone speaking to their patient's that way. Geesh. What a MORON.
I agree, unfortunately his partners probably know what a jerk he is. I am sorry.

I've been told I am big by my doctor too, and also that I was not blessed in the stretch mark department. I don't think it came off quite as abrasive though. Some people are just jerks!

Unbelievable! Hopefully you won't have to see that jerk again and can go back to your regular OB.

I know an OB who won't say any of those things, and will induce, esp. given your history......

                  Hang in there.

Sally, I would be there in a heartbeat! Except, our insurance only covers ST V. network.

Luckily, my regular OB is fabulous.

'you delivered your baby in les than 4 hour labor, good luck with the next one it'll probably be under 50 mins, do you live near the hospital?' This was from my ob at my 6 week check up

                      What a contraceptive!!!!!!

I'll wait until SO has completed his OB rotation, see how he does and then we can discuss having another baby in 5+years !!!
