  • Which would be better ?

I am working on a website for church and my ds who is 1 starts crying for attention. I didn't know what to do so I turned to Noggin and now he is perfectly silent. However I wonder if I am going to be working at home is it better to put your child in a day care instead of them watching hours of tv at home ?

My preference is always activities over TV. Will your son play with toys by himself?

Well, I worked from home for years and while I did rely on the TV as my electronic babysitter, I also did put my kids in a PDO so I could have some time to really focus on my job. That helped ease the guilt a little, I knew they were having a great time and I wasn't neglecting them. Then, when they were home with me I felt like I could focus on them a little more. That said, there were plenty of times I had stuff I had to get done while they were home and I did rely on the TV or letting them run wild around the house while I sat up here and worked.

I use movies, but am fairly restrictive about which ones. If I could afford it and had a choice I would pick a daycare they like. The emphasis is on them liking it. If the kids cry and get anxious being away from you then it seems like watching tv next to you is still better. If they play well then a daycare would be nice. But really, at 1 yr old I don't know that there would be much more playing to be done at a daycare than in your home. Stacking blocks, boxes to move things around in, toilet paper (as Jenn said and yes, there is something about tp that appeals to cats and kids!), anything with bright lights and buttons to push, etc might work as well as the tv.
