Today is Nathan's fifth birthday, and he is walking on air! It is so hard for him to wait for his birthday....the other two have spring bdays, so the summer always seems very LOOOONG for Nathan. He is having a Sponge-Bob party with some friends on Saturday (his first bday party ever!) and I am praying for good weather and for the Sponge-Bob jump castle I rented over the phone to arrive as promised.
Nathan's first days....first year, really, were clouded by Sept. 11th and by our move to a place I really, really hated. Additionally, he was not a very happy baby and certainly NOT the easy-going third baby I had heard about and was expecting. However, about the time he turned one, he decided that the world wasn't such a bad place, and he has been a lot of fun ever since. He loves to sing, show his muscles, do just about anything with his brothers, and play soccer. He is just strong-willed enough to hold his own with his brothers, but not so much that he turns everything into a battle. I can't imagine life without him, and I am thankful for the time I have gotten to spend with him since he has been the only one NOT in school for the past three years.
I really feel like it is the end of an era with him turning five.....I am sad and satisfied and looking forward to the next phase all at once, if that is possible!
