  • Waking Up

    Do you:

    A. set an alarm to wake up before the kids?

    B. let the adorable little alarm clocks wake you up when they get up?

    C. naturally wake up before them?

    (If it's C - sorry, I hate you.)

Dh wakes me up when he gets up. I would naturally get up at this time anyway if I went to bed when I wanted to. He doesn't wake me up on purpose, but I can't sleep in the morning with the noise in the background.

I get up and come downstairs. I work while dh is getting ready to leave. Dh leaves. I wake up Ryan so he can get ready for school. I get him out the door to school and continue working/playing on the internet until Lexi gets up several hours later.

That's how we do it here!

B--ds wakes up between 6-8am. if he gets up at 6, he gets in bed with me and he may fall back to sleep. if he gets up later...we're up for the day. the girls usually play nicely together in their room starting around 7:30. i guess it depends on which child wakes first.( i never get before them...im NOT a morning person)

Option B. My kids are early risers and almost always wake up plenty early to make it to school, etc. Sometimes when DH leaves later, I'll get up when he leaves but I can count on one hand the times I get out of bed before my kids. I'd have to get up way too early to do that.

A or B...depending on how lazy I am. DS has been sleeping in till 9-10 am lately. When I have calls to make or an appt I need to get ready for, I'll set my alarm to make sure I get up before him. If not, I'll just sleep in until he wakes up. I am not a morning person and would sleep in till noon if given the chance.

B- Three days a week I set my alarm for 6:15, the kids alarms go off at 6:30. Two day a week when DD#1 has chorus early at school. Then I set mine for 5:45, and hers goes off at 6:00.

Since my husband is on service this month, he's been going in way too f-ing early. (He gets there at 6:30am) I have managed to convince him to make the coffee the night before and to keep his uniform in the dining room so that he doesn't wake everyone up. (we have a cat who likes to get up and announce that she's near death from starvation)

Nikolai gets up about 6:30 but plays in his room until I go get him. (usually. Sometimes I hear "momma, what doing momma? Get UP momma.")

Doesn't matter if its w/ends or w/days, either.

When I had pre-schoolers (only) I let them wake me up, unless we had an early appt. We were usually up in the 7 o'clock hour. When the oldest one started school, that was the end of that! I would try to get up an hour or so before he did in order to get myself completely ready.....he was a dawdler and needed lots of "encouragement" in the mornings.

Now that I am working, too, I am up at 5:25. They are up in 10 minute (or so) intervals beginning at 6, and we hit the door between 7:10 and 7:15. I hate it!

I get up around 6 am with my cell phone alarm. It's the only thing that doesn't wake up my son. He's been conditioned by years of Daddy Dawkter to consider a phone ringing as background noise. This gives me enough time to get ready for the first part of my day. I work out in the morning, so I don't do too much! DS gets up naturally around 6:15-6:30. He must be one of those early risers that Heidi described in a different post. I don't think he's EVER slept later than 6:30. I wake up DD around 7-7:15 if she hasn't woken up. I turn on her lights and leave the room. She's my night owl. We are all out the door at 7:55. Kids to school and me to the hiking trails with the dog. Getting up early makes a HUGE difference in the day. 15 minutes later....and all is lost.

Kids wake up anywhere between 5:30 and 7:00. Usually around 6:15 or so.
We haven't set an alarm since the end of residency.
Monday morning is garbage day, and the trucks makes so much noise, around 5:00 AM. I feel like throttling the guys.

Set Alarm 8:00 am. My DS sleeps late and DD has to be at the bus stop at 9:00 am no early risers here.

                              All of the above.

The pager alarm wakes me up some of the time.

The kids wake me up some of the time.

I just wake up to enjoy the quiet some of the time before all hell breaks loose.
