  • Its starting again:(

For the last 2 winters since ds was 8 months he has spent nov-feb in and out of hospital with pneumonia, broncilitis, asthma(too young to make confirm diagnosis) and ENT problems. Most of it resolved when he had the grommits put in but they have fallen out (we got a a really long time out of them, 9 months). Then last night his temp spiked tachy at 180, throat is red raw and he's just miserable. I can't believe we have to do it again! I hate the childrens hospital here, they do their best but when your child is unwell nothing can make the eperience a good one! we usually spend time n there in isolation as well because of RSV/ bronchiolitis (though hopefully he's too old to get that now), he usually picks up a hospital acquired rota-virus too, believe me if you don't know it, you really really really don't want to!!

I don't think I can handle seeing him on a ventilator again I know it hasn't happened yet but you can't help reliving past experiences. I'm praying he is that much bigger and his system is stronger to be better able to cope this year.

There ain't much suckier than having a sick hospitilized child. Hopefully this time can be mostly outpatient!

Oh that bites. My brother and now my nephew basically hack up their lungs from October-April. It's horrible.

Sending healthy pink lung thoughts across the pond.

          Thanks for your support,

DS's family dr called to the house this evening (my dad's friend) and has increased his preventor inhaler to try and avoid oral steroids. DS is pretty good with his babyhaler and thinks its a game so its an easier way to give him steroids than oral ones, and less of them. And thankfully he is getting good relief with his reliever and going 6 hours between doses and temperature is come down to normal range after paracetamol(I think thats tylenol) and ibuprofen, fingers crossed it goes well through the night and his antibiotics will have kicked in! I'm letting him sleep in mummy's bed tonight , he's as snug as a bug in a rug beside me.
