I need some help picking out a gift for my friend who recently added a third daughter to their family. All are born in the same month, so they are set for clothing and that sort of thing. I was thinking of getting something for the older two -- like a Big Backyard or Ladybug magazine subscription. I think they would prefer that to "stuff". Any other ideas? I'm stumped and doing this about 2 months later than I would like.

This is not very PC, but I always give a sibling gift that will buy the mom some time, SOOOO, I always get a dvd of some kind. Maybe a book on tape would be better! We also have some dvds of children's classic stories (Corduroy, etc.) that are animated and basically read to the kid as they watch. I think they are put out by Scholastic? You could get one of those and the books to go along with it.
Don't sweat the two months thing, a present is a present whenever you get it!

We received a neat baby gift if you want to go that route. We actually got two and I have gotten them for other people so far and they have really liked them. They are inexpensive. My husband wants me to order them for our other two.

I loved the blanket we got from http://www.theblanket.com . It was SUPER soft -- and we used it all the time, washed up just fine. I tried to find the same make of blanket in the store (so I could just have MIL do the embroidery stuff around the edges) but didn't have any luck.

For siblings, I usually give art supplies to help keep them occupied for a little while. Those Crayola Colorwonder markers (or whatever they're called) are great because they don't require much supervision.
I'm sure the girls would also enjoy the subscriptions and dvds!
