using the potty

my ds will use the potty all day and is dry thru the night most of the time. the problem i have with him is pooping on the potty. he absolutley refuses. he will ask for a diaper or pull up to do his business. i have begged, pleaded, bribed, threatened.

i have sat him on the potty and he will sit there all day....NOTHING. then he holds it for days, and that is certainly not healthy.

so, i give in and let him have a diaper....but really im quite sick of it.

We're dealing with this too.

With DS, I literally had to catch him in the act and quickly place him on the potty. He was afraid, but after this first time, he grew used to it.

With DD, I place her on her potty in front of a video and promise cookies if she goes #2. It works about 30% of the time. Oh yeah, the video I play is "It's Potty Time".

We've had this issue. I agree with Tara. Give it some time even though it would be sooooo nice if he pooped in the toilet. One thing that helped us -- we take of her pull-up soon after she wakes up. That had been a bit of an issue too, that she didn't want to take it off right away and then she would poop in it.

I don't know if that helps. He will come around eventually, promise!

unfortunately 'giving it time' is all you can do. there is no way to force the poop out of them (i looked).

I would have argure that there may be a way. With all the delays that we have had with DS#2 he has been on Miralax. We have tried to pull him off that as well, but then he won't go for 2-3 days then when he does...it is like pebbles.

We are still fighting to get him remotely interested in potty training. My goal- potty trained by the time he starts Kindergarten- yeah, I am shooting for the moon
