What's the window of time for AFP test?

I can't believe it , but I think I may have missed the window to get my AFP test...today marks 18 weeks for me...can somebody tell me??!! Please say I have until 20 weeks !

Hi Alison..thanks for checking...I did the same & and then I called Sonora, the lab where I have to have it done. They said to ask my OB, because there is a window that goes farther than 18 weeks but that it is up to the physician. I just could kick myself for not being on top of this better. With DD2 it came back w/ positive results, albeit low, so after the ultra screen was figured in the odds dropped dramatically. MY OB said she always waits to factor in a follow up ultra sound before getting anybody overly concerned. If something, God forbid, would be wrong I just want to make sure DH can find the best specialists so we can have everyone standing by the day of birth(4Th schedule c-sec).


BTW how are you & your little guy doing? I am hoping that after this baby is born(middle of MAY) to try and have a iMSN get together . As of now I am aware of you and Tara , but I hope as I try to plan it, we will have others who may be able to attend. We will hopefully, have all of the landscaping project behind us & have finished the kitchen and the painting of the interior by then!
