I like that story! My brother's next door neighbors adopted from Korea- Everett is the same age as the dude and his cousin and Riley is two years younger- in fact, they got the call to go get Riley at Dulles when they were at the OB finding out they were having twins. (girls, as it turned out)

Korea camp has 1000 people- no lie. We had 54 families and close to 100 kids. They do two China camps- one in the mountains and one in Denver.

That is so awesome Jenn! Dd used to have a friend in elementary school that was adopted from China. When she hit 5th grade her mom took her back to the region she was adopted from and they would teach english all summer. I don't know how she worked that out but I always thought it was so cool.

So Julie (his mom) gave him a choice of a philosophy book, money, an empty shot glass, a caligraphy pen, and a bowl of rice. He picked the caligraphy pen first. Judith (maternal grandmother) was pleased - he would be an artist like her. He then threw the money on the floor and tried to eat the rice with the caligraphy pen. The pen didn't work so he ate the rice with his hands. There is no real telling what the child will be."
That's so wonderful that they are adhering to special traditions. DS had his Baek-il (100 day celebration) recently, and I had to pull teeth to get my ILs to show up.

Jenn, you are such a great mom for doing this for him. Really.
