If you haven't used the boots yet (not as though he's walking), return them. I know you want to get the cutest stuff, but you'll regret not having the $$ later. Trust me (I speak from experience).

I hate to be a kill joy, but I really, really wish I'd done things differently. IMO the Britax seat is TOTALLY worth the money and that's not a splurge. But $50 for boots when the kid's feet won't even touch the snow ...

Car seat that is comfortable and safe that a child will use every day is not a splurge. Boots are.

DS gets his clothing from Once Upon a Child and Target, while I haven't bought new clothing for myself since ... he was born. I just bought him a new Christmas outfit and paid $25 for it at Kohl's, and I actually stopped to reconsider because it was so much more than I usually spend on his clothing.

I would have to honestly say that the biggest splurge I've recently spent money on for DS are the pair of slippers I bought for DS for $7.99 at Target. They seem completely unnecessary, but so very cute.

And I'm sure this is not what Christine had in mind when she started this thread.
