  • Cribs recalled

Because I know we have a lot of babies on this board, I just saw this on MSNBC.
    http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/25353197/

The recalled cribs were manufactured in Taiwan by Jardine Enterprises and sold by KidsWorld stores, Geoffrey stores, Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us. They were available nationwide between January 2002 and May 2008.

Wow, 2002-2008 is a big window of time.

          Re: Cribs recalled

So, it turns out that our crib is on the recall list.

Truthfully, I feel like just ignoring the recall. I guess I feel like we've been using the crib for 2.5 years now and we're already onto our second child in it, and it's been just fine. Getting rid of our old crib and getting a new one seems like a ginormous hassle at this point. Is that bad? What do you guys think?

            Re: Cribs recalled

I'd follow up on the recall. If I remember correctly (and wouldn't be surprised if I didn't since I read it yesterday), the slats can break??? That could happen with Jamie as he starts pulling up, etc. Most places make the whole recall thing go as smoothly as possible b/c they know they screwed up.

I totally understand the "what a PITA" mentality - I'd probably be there, too. But cribs are one of the only places the babies spend serious chunks of "alone time". If they've identified an issue that's happened frequently enough to cause a recall, I'd really call.
