  • Baby Food

Anyone have good books for making your own baby food? Adele is not interested in the store bought, I think its to runny for her because the oatmeal that I started her on I mixed thicker.

    TIA!

Instead of a book I use

Once I got a few kinks worked out, making my own has turned out to be easier and more fun than I anticipated. So far, anyway.

I liked Super Baby Food pretty well, it's a great resource for how to cook various foods, but it's kinda preachy about how her perfect menu is All That in infant nutrition.

Awesome - I'll be remembering this thread in about 9 or 10 months.

I've heard good things about this one, although I don't own it myself:

The store bought was thinner than my kids liked, too. I mixed baby rice cereal flakes with it to thicken it.

Ditto Spotty. The book is useful once you really narrow in on what you want to know.

I'll third the suggestion for Super Baby Food. I ignore a lot of it , but I do like using it as a guide to how to prepare the different foods as well as when to start with each food.

I have no experience/need for this advice, but I have friends who have little ones, so I looked for them...but I didn't honestly think there was anything that went into making baby food besides sticking whatever food in a blender!

I'll be storing this knowledge away for at least 3 years - but passing it along now!

She's doing much better now - she'll eat a full jar per meal with or without rice cereal but I'm still adding it because she tends to eat the thicker stuff easier.
