So, despite repeated warnings...some yelling ...and some physical removing from the bed...DS was jumping on his bed, fell forward and banged one of his top front teeth. I have to admit, although I rushed over to him to assess the damage and comfort him, the back of my head was saying "What did I tell you???"

Ugh. Anyway, this tooth was mildly displaced (could only tell when he tilted his head back and I compared the alignment to the next tooth) and some mild bleeding from above the gumline which subsided within a couple of minutes. I gently pushed the tooth back into alignment and the bleeding has stopped. So, am I supposed to take him to the dentist? Is this a dental emergency. It's not hurting, not bleeding... I'm afraid to touch it for fear of loosening it again. Thoughts?

Don't be embarrassed you yelled. Uh - that's what happens here.

We *probably* wouldn't take the boys in for that kind of injury, but that doesn't mean we're right.

So I'm NO help at all.

This type of stuff happens no matter what you do, believe me I've tried everything from yelling to anything else I could think of. I probably wouldn't take him in if it were me. Is this a baby tooth or a permanant one?

We have had a similar injury- I asked the dentist about it a few months later and he said that really, unless there's obvious trauma to the area that could impact the adult teeth, it's no biggie.
