So we just returned from the doctor where a dry black bean was extracted from my toddler's nose. She seemed quite amused with herself. Apparently, she also has an ear infection. I had no clue..I thought she was just cranky from her last set of molars coming in.

DH is rotating at a bigger hospital (in ENT) this month where they hold a weekly "foreign body extraction clinic." So... although it hasn't happened to me yet, apparently beans, etc., etc. getting stuck in noses and ears is super common.
