  • Toddler sleeping on floor?

We just moved DD (2.5 years) to her toddler bed about 2 weeks ago...she seems excited about it (it has her crib mattress in it with all her usual bedding and belonged to her favorite Uncle which makes it extra special to her). I tuck her in and we exchange goodnights, love yous, etc., and as soon as I leave the room, she takes her pillow and blanket and heads for her reading nook corner for the night. (I have a video monitor...sometimes I think it would be better not knowing what goes on though!).

I am not really concerned about it as long she is sleeping through the night......... more just curious about this strange toddler behavior. I tried not to make a big deal about it in hopes that she will get over it quicker. Is this a phase anyone else has dealt with? Maybe little ones just like sleeping in little cozy "nests?"

My girls haven't done that specifically, but sometimes they have fallen asleep on the floor. It sounds really cute!

My 4-YO DS does this--makes, what he calls, "a nest" from blankets and pillows and settles in. He does not do it in his room, but when he has to sleep in the living room when company is here. I always find him asleep on the floor, piled in pillows.

Nikolai does this sometimes and when he had the toddler bed he took full advantage of being able to wander. Often he'd come sleep on the floor next to our bed and there were a few scary close calls of us realizing he was there microseconds before we stepped on him!

I think it's perfectly normal (and really cute)
