Girl bits

Question for mom's of girls. Sophie is a week and a half old now and I am still finding vernex in between her labia minora and majora. My mom made a huge fuss about needing to get it all out, but the hospital staff didn't say anything about it. I haven't given her a full bath yet because her umbilical stump is still a bit scabbed over (but I will be doing so in the next day or so - energy levels permitting!) and I am guessing that it will come out more easily if she has a bath. How did you handle this? :huh:

My experience with A was that it did come out more easily when she had an actual bath. Until then I just got out as much as I could with the wipes when I changed her.

Thanks Cheri - how to handle a circ - got it. Keeping the girl bits clean? It's a whole other league!!!!

DH is convinced Natalie has a yeast infection because of the white goo. I'm going to ask the ped about it tomorrow but I'm not too fussed. Vernix is an age-old skin treatment, those little girl bits probably deserve the nice lubricating moisturizer. LOL.

We were always told not to clean it out and not to worry about it.

Thanks everyone. I'm not to worried about it and figure it will eventually all wash out. She doesn't seem bothered by it either.
