    if YOU were a 3 year old girl. . .

    Would you rather see. . . (when you open your birthday presents)

    a bag full of costumes for dress up

    a bag full of barbies (not "real" barbies but the disney princess barbies)

    a bag full of assorted mermaids and their sea pets

    or none of the above and give me another suggestion!

    Me? I would rather see the dress up clothes. And when DD was 3 she was (and still is) totally into the dress up stuff. Good luck making up your mind!!

      Depends what she is into. My girls would not have liked any of the above (too girly for their taste). What about one of each item? Hows that for noncommittal?

            My 3 yo DD is all about the dress-up clothes. She's wearing her brother's bat costume from Halloween as I type.

                  Definitely the dress up clothes. My girls are 4 and 7 and they still get a lot of use out of their dress up clothes.

                  Both are really into The Littlest Pet Shop stuff as well. Have you considered that?

                    I'd love dress-up clothes, accessories, and maybe some play makeup. Sounds fun - I'm sure she'll love any of the things you've thought of!

                      In this house? Dress up, Art supplies, and Littlest Pet Shop. The Barbies and/or mermaid dolls would see very little play time.
