  • switching to the convertible carseat

We're getting ready for a HUGE roadtrip and I'm trying to decide if I should switch out Mattie from the pumpkin seat to her convertible Britax. She's 7 months (will be 8 months on the trip) and is still light enough that carrying the pumpkin seat isn't a problem. But ... she's working on sitting up (still topples), and my thought is that she might be more content for the long ride if she were more upright. We've got the snap 'n go stroller, and she will get antsy in it if we're out for awhile, but seems more content in the regular stroller for longer periods of time. Bringing two strollers would also be an issue.

    Thoughts?

I think as long as you keep it rear facing there wouldn't be an issue in switching her as long as she meets the weight requirements. The convertible seats are safe too and we switched A at 9 months because of the straps on her infant seat being to short.

I'd switch but then I never liked the bucket seats a whole lot. If she prefers the other stroller, that would be good reason too. Will you be sightseeing more or walking around and using the stroller more?

It seems to me like most babies prefer a more upright position once they can sit up. I switched Eddy around the 7-8 month mark and plan to do the same with Natalie.

Edit: when I posted, this thread came up: http://www.medicalspouse.com/forums/...ad.php?t=35978

Looks like you recommended the same to Cheri.

          seriously? That's hillarious (and embarrassing).

I know it will be safe - the convertible seat is good from newborn on. I'm just hemming and hawing about losing the convienence of the pick up and go.

Nellie - part of our trip will be DC and part at Hershey park, so yes, a lot of walking around.

You're all right (as I apparently was when I posted to Cheri). I'll make the switch.

We kept Eli (who is a lot bigger than Mattie) in the graco car seat for our big road trip and he did fine. We also brought our maclaren because he likes to stroll around that while on walks. We thought about doing the bigger car seat but in the end it didn't matter that much. Use whatever is going to use the least amount of space for packing. BTW, we drove through Hershey today and thought of you

Hah!! Now I won't have to be jealous of your lightening fast snap and go capabilities. You already made up your mind, but I moved Eóin to the convertible seat once it got "warm" in March. He was 9 months old.

I'm thinking we will be moving Evangeline very soon. She rides trying to sit up the entire time which can't be comfortable. Plus I'm kind of excited to use our new Britax. I bet Mattie will love her big girl seat. I cannot believe she is already 7 months!!
