  • Poo question

Ok, this is going to be pretty gross but its been bugging me so I have to ask. Maybe I'm just overly sensitive to it since we do cloth diapers. A is 17 months old and on solid or regular foods plus whole milk. She had had pretty solid diapers on a regular basis until about 3 weeks ago. Now everyone single one of her dirty diapers, which is still 2/day, are not solid. I would consider them a diarrhea or gloppy consistency but she doesn't act sick in any other way.

    Her regular diet is:
Breakfast - yo baby yogurt, cheerios, a banana and whole milk
Lunch - a fruit and/or veggie, cheese, bread product either in a pb&j sandwich or seperate and then a meat if she's not having pb&j
Dinner - pretty much the same type of stuff as lunch

I haven't made any dietary changes that I can think of. She has a snack twice a day which is usually graham crackers or goldfish and milk and her sippy cup of water is always available to her during the day.

Any thoughts? Should I call the doctor? DH is no help.

I have no advise but honestly I don't know how you were able to change diapers through morning sickness. I loose it just cleaning up after the dog.

When did you introduce the bread or dairy? She could be lactose intolerant, or suffer from celiac-sprue.
I'm celiac, and it kills my GI tract to have any wheat.
      Thoughts?

She's had dairy since she was 1 so at least 5 months. She's had bread products just as long, if not longer - eggos, bread, etc.

Maybe she's just got a mild GI bug? A certain someone in our household gets these bouts of diarrhea, but no other discomfort. It usually goes away in 2-3 days.

How long has it been going on? Three weeks? I think I would call the ped's office and see what they have to say.

Ever since she had her roseola which was the 17-20 so about 2 weeks which is why I ignored it the first few days.

Maybe that is a lingering side effect. It doesn't sound like anything major so maybe the ped's office can give some advice by phone.

My kids have gone through weeks of loose stools, and sometimes it's dietary, but more often due to teething. Everything is due to teething.

That could be it, she is cutting molars and has been for over a month. I'll probably call tomorrow just to see what they say.

I hadn't thought about teething! Good point -- my brother and sister were MISERABLE.
And it wasn't that pleasant for the rest of us, either

Teething. All that extra drool they swallow (sp?) is my thought.

I don't know why swallow looks wrong to me...
