  • Weird "rash"

So Saturday morning I noticed a rash in A's diaper area that is more like spots then a blotchy rash. She's in cloth, we rarely get rashes and as far as I can tell its not bothering her. Yesterday we noticed it had moved a little up her leg towards her knees, not a lot, just a little. Today I think its getting a little thicker, i.e. more spots.

Do I need to call the doctor, anyone have any ideas?

We just dealt w/ a bout of 'jock itch' that kind of sounds similar to what you're describing. (it's a fungus)

Same here--we just went through it, too. Our pediatric NP (who is AWESOME!!) told us to buy a tube of jock itch cream at Walgreen's and apply it liberally with every changing. It's kind of pricey, but it worked within a couple of days. We coupled that with cutting out any "new" foods (we'd introduced meat), using a super-duper strength diaper rash ointment on top of the jock itch cream. and "drying" her groin area very thoroughly before re-diapering.

Hmm, interesting - ok, maybe we'll try that.

        Thanks!

Lexi had a weird rash when she was a baby. I would take A to the ped. You never know.

Jack has just had something like that. Red spots started in his diaper area last Thursday, spread right down his legs and up his belly Friday, got more blotchy looking on Saturday. Then fading yesterday and gone today.
DH said it was probably a virus. He didn't have any other symptoms and it was not bothering him so we didn't take him to the ped.
