  • Baby gate questions

We live in a house with stairs for the first time. Do most people buy a baby gate for the top and the bottom?

Any recommendations on a gate? I cant seem to find the right one so far.
What I want is a pressure mounted, extra wide hands free gate. Does this exist?

We bought one for both up and downstairs. Downstairs is a pressure mounted (First years hands free) and the upstairs one is mounted on the wall (can't remember the company). I feel far more comfortable with our little guy crawling and walking around the house with the gates.

I'm not sure you can do a pressure mount at the top of the stairs, but I think they're fine at the bottom. We have a split level and only put them at the top of the stairs. It is mounted to the wall and then locks into the board mounted on the spindle.

Basically like this one but that isn't ours - ours was put in by the previous owners: http://www.onestepahead.com/catalog/...tegoryId=85217

We have them bolted into the wall at the top and bottom. With the way the spindles are set in our staircase the pressure mounted wouldn't work. The next owners will have to deal with those massive holes I guess :/

How bad is it that I don't remember? He's only five? He's only lived w/ me for four years. I know we had a gate. Maybe two. I do remember we had baby jail- which was basically a corrall. set it up in the living room and then dared him to figure out his escape. (he and his cousin did figure out that if they were both in baby jail they could work together and push the jail to whatever part of the room they wanted to see)
