    This.

Flying with an infant is a breeze, IMO. I flew with our others all the time, and I just took baby #4 to Chicago when she was 6 weeks old. Never heard a peep out of her the entire flight. Contrast that with a flight I had taken a few months earlier with my 2 year old, and i would sooner fly with sextuplet infants than one toddler.

We flew with DD when she was about 10 weeks. It was a breeze. She hated the car at that age, so a 20 hour trip would have been pure torture for everyone. Also, if you are nursing, I wouldn't leave the baby behind because of the difficulties of having to pump.

Ditto. We were just stuck on a plane for 6 1/2 hours with an 18 month old.

You'll have a great flight. Our kids were really easy to fly with up until they hit a year. If you can swing it, I would buy a seat for the baby. Some airlines only charge 1/2 price for infant seats.

Ooh - sorry. I inserted the 2.5 month old baby figure in my driving comment. A 20 hour drive sucks for EVERYONE, adults included. I'd totally fly.

I think the flight may be the easier part of the trip- having to attend to the social obligations and stay in a hotel or busy household and attend to the baby's needs may be the harder part.

This was true in my case last week. We were at the grandparents-in-laws for 5 days with our 3 week old baby. It was hard being away from my home. I missed my own baby set up friendly house. Now I understand why people with small kids don't want to go anywhere for the holidays. It's a total PITA to pack up and be somewhere else. Or maybe it's just me and liking my own routine. I didn't even know I had a routine until I was away! LOL!
