Personally I wouldn't bother with the pack and play. Way too much hassle. Just get a room with 2 beds and put him in one.

Are you taking your carseat? DS slept great in his when we traveled. (And at home, but that's another topic... )

ETA: Great for him, that is!

I wouldn't bother w/ a pack n' play for just one night- definitely not worth the hassle. If he's comfy in the car seat, he should be fine for one night.

Dumb question - won't the hotel provide a crib?? Every single time we've traveled with the baby both here and abroad, we've been able to have the hotel put a crib/pack and play in the room for us. That being said, at his age, the car seat or a second bed should probably work just fine for him too. Good luck!

Lots of hotels do have cribs available but I had horrible experiences w/ them not being stable. (not to mention not exactly code compliant!)

When dd was 4 months old, we went to Lake Tahoe for 2 nights, and she slept in her stroller bassinet in the bathroom. And when it was time for us to get ready for bed, we turned off all the lights, and rolled her out.

The last several times we have stayed in a hotel, in different brands, their "cribs" were pack n' plays so I wouldn't take it and request one and if they've got one great. I did take my own sheets though. I was always told as long as their not rolling you could put them in a dresser drawer though DH never let me try that.

Was going to post about the Peapod. I bought it when M was 11 months, and while more compliant babies will get a lot more use out of it, I have to say this is the first time she's used it on a trip (last week -- she's 2.5). Still, I love it. The thing says good until age 5, so we're set for awhile, and she actually likes it a lot now.
