Can constipation interfere with sleep? I don't know, because, speaking for myself, I'm regular. . TMI?

Dh offered to do the nighttime stuff, which usually means that dd is up one time for a 4-oz bottle at 5am. She then goes back to bed until 7:30-8am. Last night, she was up 5 times, and dh got up every single time (I sort of tuned everything out, but at 6:30 when she was ready to get the day started, dh woke me to ask if I'd be willing to get up).

Eeeps. I think we may have to scrap our dinner plans tonight. Dd was pretty nuts with my inlaws the previous night. According to my mil, she woke up with what sounded like a nightmare. She was crying, but didn't have her eyes open, and would not calm down until my mil gently woke her up.

This morning, she had some hard poop in her diaper and is resting, albeit with occasional grunting.

    Any ideas?

Did your babies ever have nightmares at this age?

I find that any kind of tummy grumbles can disrupt my babies' sleep patterns. And yes, constipation can be really painful -- little kids who are old enough to talk usually complain of stabbing stomach pains. Hopefully her pooper gets back on an even keel!

Daegan has had nightmares or night terrors since he was really little. Sometimes he wakes up sometimes not. He almost always needs comforting though. No advice on poop issues.

I find that almost anything can mess with their sleep.

When Caleb was a toddler, he had night terrors as well, but M is a bit young for them. As for dreaming, I am guessing that they do. And if they dream, they can have bad dreams as well.

DD is very hard to lay her down for sleep or a nap if she is backed up. We had this issue over the weekend. I tried giving her rice cereal and of course she got very constipated. Then it was very hard for her to relax enough to sleep well. We tried giving her prune juice, but she wasn't interested. We ultimately had to (Eeeek) 'stimulate the area' with a thermometer. No wonder she couldn't get it out, it was pretty hard. She slept much better that night.

Yup, it's most definitely constipation. I give dd white grape juice now. She doesn't like the taste of prune juice, but loves the grape flavor.
