  • How I know I'm a parent...

Well, it's official. The baby's quirks make me laugh as if she's the funniest episode of Seinfeld.

Dh is out of town, so it's just the two of us. Dd was sneezing quite often today, and then she had some runny snot, and then she started acting fussy. So I rectal thermometer-ed her. And her temperature is slightly elevated, so I didn't mess around, and gave her a little tylenol, because with it being a one-(wo)man show, I need to get some sleep here, too!

Dd woke up just 45 minutes after falling asleep, so I went in there with my battle gear (bottle), and sat down with her in the rocker. She opened her mouth for the bottle and when she put her lips around the nipple, realized that she couldn't breathe, because her nose was plugged. I placed the bottle on the table and rocked her. She fussed a little and then zonked out in my arms, snoring loudly, but -wait for it - pursing her lips and making bottle-sucking noises!!! Without a bottle in her mouth!

When she was done not drinking, I lay her back down in her crib.

I wonder how long it'll take for her to realize that she didn't actually eat anything. Is this like the adult version of not remembering whether you've eaten lunch?

    Ah, motherhood. Thanks for listening.

Hehe too cute!!! DS sometimes dreams about eating - he makes little sucking motions with his mouth and kind of bobs his head. I hope M gets feeling better soon!

Try suctioning her nose before the next feeding. Glad she got back to sleep easily. Note: it's 4AM. BabyK doesn't sleep through the night any more and I wish he'd be satisfied with a pretend nursing.

So sweet. I miss those little things *sigh*

dd#1 lost her first tooth yesterday evening. Her reaction was very cute and funny. (but not sweet like your dd, Alison. Lol
between ds and dd#1 the tooth fairy is going to go broke! Lol)

Sylvia - losing one's first tooth is a big milestone! How exciting!

Well, the sucking at a non-existent bottle ceased being cute by the 4th or 5th time she did this over night. I think she was up at least 6 times, with the longest stretch at 2 hours. At least if your spouse is home you can get a slightly longer stretch of sleep.

                Sigh.

Can you explain to me why they all of a sudden become more mobile/fussy/active/reaching for things they've never had any interest in before like blinds?!

                    I meant the "children's version of ...."

I'm so glad dh comes home tonight, so that we can tag team. I just went in to feed her (she's missed a meal today), and when I burped her, she responded with two sneezes. And then she was wide awake, smiling back at me. DARN!
