Well, it's official. The baby's quirks make me laugh as if she's the funniest episode of Seinfeld.
Dh is out of town, so it's just the two of us. Dd was sneezing quite often today, and then she had some runny snot, and then she started acting fussy. So I rectal thermometer-ed her. And her temperature is slightly elevated, so I didn't mess around, and gave her a little tylenol, because with it being a one-(wo)man show, I need to get some sleep here, too!
Dd woke up just 45 minutes after falling asleep, so I went in there with my battle gear (bottle), and sat down with her in the rocker. She opened her mouth for the bottle and when she put her lips around the nipple, realized that she couldn't breathe, because her nose was plugged. I placed the bottle on the table and rocked her. She fussed a little and then zonked out in my arms, snoring loudly, but -wait for it - pursing her lips and making bottle-sucking noises!!! Without a bottle in her mouth!
When she was done not drinking, I lay her back down in her crib.
I wonder how long it'll take for her to realize that she didn't actually eat anything. Is this like the adult version of not remembering whether you've eaten lunch?
Ah, motherhood. Thanks for listening.
