Dd went in for her 9-month well baby check up. She weighed in at a whopping 16 pounds 9 oz. She's in the 14th percentile. It's so hard to stop obsessing about her weight, but she's happy, healthy, and hitting her milestones... This morning, she was eyeing my yoghurt, so I gave her some. And then some more, because she was all "mmmmmmmmmMMMM." She NEVER does that with food, so I got excited and gave her as much as she wanted. Before I knew it, she had eaten about 1/3 of my (adult-size) container.

I went to the store later and bought her Yobaby. Is there a difference between baby yoghurts and regular adult yoghurt? Do I need to buy the baby one specifically?

    TIA.

BTW: She's in the 66th percentile for head circumference. I guess my genes for head size are stronger than I thought!

I don't know the answer to that, but Oliver loves Yobaby yogurt. He also has always been on the small side but reached all of his milestones. We will have to introduce them. Before age 3 Amy never made it above the 25th percentile, she is now 5ft 5 in.

YoBaby is whole milk, I don't believe adult yogurts are. A got YoBaby for a year, she loved it and if R ever starts eating off a spoon he'll get some too

My baby has a big head too! And I never gave the yobaby or anything. Just whatever I had. J goes through stages of loving yogurt and then not eating it at all. When she was about 9 months old she ate a lot of blueberry yogurt- she really liked the berries in it (just Yoplait yogurt- I get the multipack thing at costco bc Kate eats a lot of yogurt). Then one day she stopped. Refused to eat it. But she eats it again now...

So anyway, I guess I would stick with the brand and texture that she likes. I don't think there's anything special about yobaby, but I've never tried it...

          That makes sense- whole milk.

YoBaby is higher in fat (because of the high fat). Taste it - it's delicious!

My first two LOVE yogurt--it was one of their first foods. The only thing is: it is pretty high in sugar, so just bear that in mind as she gets older and you're watching how much sugar she's eating (to reduce hyperness, etc.). It's equivalent to a dessert.

I never bought the YoBaby or any "made for babies" specialized yogurt, but I've heard YoBaby is super-yummy. I just buy vanilla yogurt by the quart because it's cheapest to buy in bulk, or I buy Target's store brand ("Archer Farms"). The only thing I would warn against is sharing Greek yogurt with the kids. It's my favorite, but because it has a sour taste, it was deeply disappointing to my son, who rejected it flat out after trying a taste.

If you want to know if the higher-fat yogurt is the way to go, call your pediatrician's nurse or nurse practitioner and ask! Bet they get that question a lot.

If you're worried about what's in it, you could always make your own yogurt, too. I've been coveting this for far longer than I care to admit...

We have it (wedding registry), it was fun, but we really need to perfect the art. Good greek yogurt still wins out.

Crystal, you have to try Noosa. They make it in Boulder. I know you can get it at Whole Foods... not sure where else. Far and away the best yogurt I have EVER had.

I haven't heard of it, I usually just stock up on Fage, I'm always up for good yogurt suggestions. Thanks!

Give her whatever she likes, if she loved your yogurt get more (providing it is not artificially sweetened). I wouldn't worry about sugar content or really even the whole milk option. If she is saying "yummy" then that is the food for her

BTW: The fact that she was going mmmm is beyond cute! Get a video of that.

We give E the regular yogurt because some days he loves it and some days he's not interested and that way we can finish whatever he doesn't finish.

Thanks everyone! I called our pediatrician, because dd does have lactose sensitivity issues, and I didn't want to pump her full of the yogurt I eat (Brown Cow), and her tummy go haywire.
It sounds like it doesn't really matter what kind of yogurt I give this kid. Like everything else, I'm just supposed to monitor how it goes over the course of a few days.

I really hope that this goes over well and you've found a food she really likes!
