  • Another tooth?!

Baby girl is 9 months old and started cutting her 6th tooth a couple days ago! Is that normal??? She refused to eat any solid food (like fruit puffs or cheerios) until yesterday.

It seems like a lot, but not freakish... Some kids get them early and some get them late.

We've got no teeth, no table food, and we are crawling backwards only over here (8 months, 9 days) but most of our friends who have babies the same age give a week or two have a couple teeth and are crawling forwards. Some of their babies are standing. One of my friends found her 6 month old standing in his crib after his nap. I've heard of babies born with teeth. There is a big range for normal.

SuzySunshine's son is on pace with Miss A, moonlight. Precocious babies! I think they get the hang of solids when they get the chewing motion down with their jaws rather than when they get teeth.

Hazel is hanging out with Baby K. At 8.75 months, one bare sliver of one tooth and not quite crawling but she does manage to get her hands on anything within a five-foot radius of her with some scootching and wiggling.

No scootching or wiggling just yet! But we are doing really good at sitting. <kidding>

Pedi says we are ok. She has until 18 months to walk. She is already 22 pounds! Nine more months of carrying her around doesn't exactly sound like a plan. LOL!

I didn't walk until I was 20 months. My brother was 22 months. It will happen when it happens.

DD is just 9 months now as well. She's sitting/scooting/turning on her bottom so she can grab whatever looks interesting. Loves to play with her brother's dinosaur toys... She moves backwards on her hands/knees although I wouldn't call it "crawling backwards" more like "sliding". Frankly, I am in NO rush for her to start crawling! She has no teeth, and really no sign of them, either. She will eat puffs/cheerios, but refuses any other type of chewable food (peaches, bananas, etc). She waves her arms as in "bye bye" and reaches her arms up when she wants to be carried (every time I enter the room). Gives lots of sloppy kisses...so freakin' cute! Her hair is filling in and I can now pull the top off to the side out of her eyes (hello cute barrettes!). I must say, I LOVE THIS AGE!

Me too! With every new stage I think "THIS is the best stage!" And then the next stage is the best stage too. BabyK can do "High Five" and "So Big", hugs and kisses, blows raspberries all the time. . .which is getting obnoxious. I'm worried he'll be sent home from day care for constant spitting.

ITA. I love nine months for the combo of sweet and fun. I also love five months for pure sweetness. Mmmm.

Just a quick update. Today her 7th tooth started popping in. 9 months old and that makes 7 teeth. Good grief!

And as for a funny side note. Yesterday she FINALLY figured out that she can put her toes in her mouth. I know- way behind on that one! Well, lets just say she gave me this yuck face and hasn't even attempted to put that big toe in her mouth again. I just looked at her and said "Don't worry. I wouldn't want to put my toe in my mouth either:

Today, we discovered that BabyK is cutting his first tooth! For weeks now I've been asking him to show me his teeth. He usually opens wide and let's me feel his gums. This is usually followed by him attempting to inspect my teeth. So he knows something is supposed to be there. Today I was surprised to find something when I looked into his mouth and he was SO proud and happy when I saw it. . . Or at least he was happy that I was so proud. So, that's tooth number one at 8 months and 3 wks.

Moonlight, DS was an early teether. He had 6 by 6 months, 12 by 12 months and all 20 by 20 months. I was glad to get them out the way early, he was a terrible teether!!!

DD just got her first tooth this weekend and there's another one coming. How many does it take to require brushing? Seems silly to brush one tooth or even two.
