  • shoes question

Dd is 12 months old, and is showing no signs of walking. She'll stand up for brief periods, but prefers to crawl. She's really a fast crawler, and I think she'll only find walking to be useful when she wants to hold something with both hands and get from point a to point b!

I've got her in Pedipeds, but they're getting small. At the park, I let her crawl around, but feel like she should have shoes on for added protection and warmth.

She's outgrowing her current 6-12 month Pedipeds. do I still keep her in soft soles (not super easy to find in her size, unless they're those hideous Robeez or oh so cute See Kai Runs) or do I move her on to harder soles?

    TIA.

Go to Target and buy the knock off Robeez and keep them in the car. Don't even bother putting them on at home because she'll probably jsut take them off and loose them.

FWIW, none of my kids walked until very late--14 months is the earliest. While it was nice to have more time that I didn't have to run after them constantly, the dragging themselves through the dirt got old.

My kids walked at 17 and 14 months (we're still waiting on the 10 month old, thankfully). I found that they had a really hard time in the hard soles until they were steady on their feet. Soft soles feel more like walking in bare feet and I think they can "feel" the surface they're on much better.

We did not buy hard soled shoes until our kiddos were walking pretty good on bare feet. When we did buy shoes it was always the Stride Rite first walkers. They are great shoes and look great when bronzed.

I vote for staying with soft-soled, too.

Ok! I'll keep looking for soft soles. I didn't know she could wear them even when she's walking. I really like the See Kai Runs, but they're close to what I'd spend on my own shoes, and makes you think twice!

Look for See Kai Run sales (or ask Davita to keep you apprised, as she does me). But yes, soft soled is the way to go for new walkers.
