DD2 has Kit's friend Ruthie- and she has *naturally wavy hair*. I find her hair to be a major PITA. The other dolls though have straight hair and we haven't had any major hair issues with them. I wish DD1 never took Kaya's hair out of the braids, but we've sort of managed to rebraid (not that pretty), but otherwise, no issues.

DD2 has kit too- her hair is shoulder length and very easy to manage.

And by "DF" you must mean DH !!!
      Yes

I don't think the hair has gotten any better...though those stylists at the store did AMAZING things with water and brushes

Not surprising with an older brother.
My dd loves her rag doll too: http://www.amazon.com/Ks-Kids-Barbar...4499785&sr=1-1. I just read the description and it's actually true, it's her favorite bed-time companion now! I'm thinking of getting another one in case we lose this one, which would be a disaster. I love how it's machine washable and there are no hard parts (she falls asleep on it sometimes).

Thanks for that link! I went to the American Girl store today to check it out and got really freaked/creeped out. I'm sorry - a$75 horse to go with her $100 doll? A $349 armoire for all her clothes? I need more time before I consider going down that path.

My grandmother fed our addiction with "knockoff" stuff from a local craft swap-type place. It was really cheap--maybe there is similar stuff like that still out there? We hardly got any of the "official" stuff and I liked a lot of the knockoff stuff better

I always thought to myself at the Chicago store that I would never want to accidentally get locked in the store! Crrrreeeepy!

Oh, honey, you don't buy the AG stuff, only the doll. Then you go to Target and buy all the Our Generation Doll accoutrements and troll Ebay. Seriously, DD got a $39 armoire for her doll from Le Target boutique last year as her big Christmas gift.

Or you give a detailed list to grandparents and THEY buy the $75 horse.

My girls each have an AG doll. They each wanted a horse. They loved them so much that we now have 8 Target version of AG horses. We got them on sale for $20 at various times. They are played with much more often than the actual dolls.

Thank you, Kelly! I remembered this was here, and my niece is asking for clothes for her new AG doll for Christmas. Lifesaver!

We're doing Bitty Twins for our two girls this year. We wouldn't have considered it, but DD#1 has been looking at the AG catalogue *every* night for the past two months, not asking for anything, just sweetly enjoying all the pictures. I hope the Bitty Twins' hair is easier to manage than the bigger dolls... We're trying to ease our way into this.
