    I'm taking them....

What bottles did you use and why did you like them?

Playtex NaturaLatch. It's what my LC recommended to me 4 y ago for Daegan. I think the bottles were kind of a pain bc of the drop-in liner. But since I had that system, I used it for Kai too.

I think the biggest factor when deciding which bottles is nipple preference. Some nipples can work on other bottles, but some can't.

If I had to do it again I think I'd consider the Avent system more. I like that it you can change to toddler spouts. But it's been a long time since I looked at that stuff so there is probably a better option now.

Funny - I was going to say playtex because the drop in liner is so simple! All three of my kids took best to Playtex, after (or during) nursing.

It's really an individual preference. I used drop ins and Playtex with my son, Avent with my daughter, and all kinds of others with various kiddos I have babysat. I really dislike Dr. Browns. So many pieces!

I think I actually prefer Playtex for the ease of use. Avent tends to leak a lot if you don't have the lids on just right, with just the right amount of tightness. Other than that, I liked them. I have had Dr. Browns leak too. Playtex never seemed to leak on me.

We used both Playtex Drop-ins and Avent, too. Avent bottles leaked like crazy if they were either not tight enough or too tightly closed. Drove me nuts. And our kids didn't like the nipples, at all.

I liked the Playtex bottles best, too. They were easy to deal with, took up less space when empty, super easy to keep clean, and I never had a gross bottle to clean out if DH set one somewhere weird where I wouldn't find it for a while. (This is the man who ALWAYS sets things in weird places. I've found TV remotes in the freezer on multiple occasions.)

We used Avent with A and started those with R but he had gas and reflux issues with them so we switched to the Playtex VentAire. They helped him but towards the end they started to leak and were a PIA! If R hadn't had gas issues with the Avent we would have stuck with them.

We started with the basics that came with the medela pump...moved on to dr. Browns and they are a PITA with so many pieces and they do leak too. You would think that I would switch but I'm too lazy....pitiful!

Same here. And in reference to Michele's thought of "probably better options now" -- although I'm obviously not looking right now, I'll say that I mainly used Playtex when I baby sat at 12 (that would be 25 years ago), so that's why I registered for it when I was pregnant with Jacob 10.5 years ago. I kept using it then b/c they were cheap, and I couldn't afford to try the "fancy" bottles that seemed to have so many supposed advantages. When I had Mattie 8 years later I figured I could use the "nice" bottles, so I tried Avent, Dr. Browns, and something else ... and went back to the Playtex bottles. They're easy, you don't have to wash as much or have drying / moisture catching issues, and I really think the way the liner collapses as they suck is similar to what happens as they "empty" the breast (could be totally wrong, but that's what my mind pictures).

Maybe those are all the reasons my LC recommend them. They are easy to clean bc of the liner. And they do dry out well after washing, better than my pump in stuff. I did get an adapter so I could pump directly into the liner filled bottle, but it was usually just easier to pump and then pour where it needed to go. I guess it just felt like such a pain bc I had liners, and bottles, and pump parts, and baggies and just so much stuff! I definitely am enjoying not working for the sheer simplicity of feeding the baby this go around!

pump parts / pumping always complicates everything.

My LC recommended these - she said they were the best to prevent nipple confusion. They make the baby actually "Latch" and use the same jaw mechanism to get milk out (unlike the ease of most bottles). They are amazing and A has been able to go back and forth between breast and bottle with ease. They have many parts, but I couldn't recommend them any more. We love love love them. They are designed for expressed breast milk I think, but some mothers in daycare have periodically used them for formula too. We've only done EBM so I cant speak to that.

I tried Playtex Ventaire but they always leaked, so I switched to Born Free but they ended up making DD gassy, so then I went with Dr Brown. Even though there are lots of parts, I like them the most. I just pop mine in the dishwasher, so the parts don't bother me too much. I also liked that they are interchangeable with Medela bottles and I could just pump into them directly. My kid seems to be a rarity but she never cared about what nipple was offered, as long as there was something coming out of it.
