Baby pictures question

The photographer we used for DD's baby pictures suggested that we do her one year portraits at the end of April. She said that the weather will be better, we'll be able to do outside shots and DD will be sturdier on her feet. She'll be 14.5 months at that point. I like the idea of shooting outdoors but it technically won't be a one year shoot anymore. Is it going to matter much in a few years though? I can always insist on doing the pictures in Feb. DH likes the idea of waiting until April. I just need something new to obsess over. Clearly I need a drink. Right?

I took Amy's first Easter pictures about 6 weeks after Easter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you like the Photographer and she does good work, I would follow her advice.

I'd prefer to do it at 1 year because I'd want to document her developmwnt at 1 year. If she is not walking at 1 year, I wouldn't want her walking in her 1 year portrait. It depends on your objective for the photos.

I think it's fine for a big session like that. It's not as though you don't own a camera and there won't be pictures of her on her first birthday or what she was doing at one year. I've had our pics done at 6 months and 18 months ... I'm just about documenting the family rather than specific growth, etc.

This. I don't think it really matters, my husband and I had our "engagement" photos taken 2 months after we got married, we were engaged for 18 months but with all that we did in that time (graduations, bar exam, match etc) we just couldn't find the time and when we did the weather didn't want to cooperate. That being said we have true "engagement" pictures, from the time he proposed to our impromptu party with my family that night etc... I think your plan is fine but I'm just NOT a stickler for formality when it comes to such things!

I like to document the milestones, too. If you're good with your camera, I'd do your own shoot at 1 year, and then go with your photographer's suggestion for formal pictures when you can do them outdoors.
